January 1, 2017 Events19

Glass Bulletin, one of India’s premier and widely read quarterly magazines for the global Glass industry, organised the first ofits- kind Glass Bulletin Awards on the night of December 8, 2016. The Glass Bulletin Awards were presented to the outstanding players of India’s Glass Industry in various categories during a gala night at NSCI (National Sports Club of India) in New Delhi.

For the first time in India, the entire Glass industry came under one roof at Glass Bulletin Awards 2016 to honour outstanding contributions selected solely based on merit by an independent jury comprising the who’s who of the industry. Taking our efforts to serve the Glass industry forward by leaps and bounds, the ensuing night of December 8 marked a gala event. With humble efforts, we at Glass Bulletin were able to present a platform to all the stakeholders in the industry to recognise and acknowledge the valuable services rendered by all those associated with the enviable growth of the Glass industry and its allied fields in the country. Schedule of Events The auspicious evening began with our honourable guests from across the country and abroad representing different segments of Glass industry gathering at the NSCI at around 5:30 pm when a general interactive session ensued for about an hour. During this introductory session, Glass Bulletin took the opportunity to interview the esteemed guests and ask for their opinion and expectations of the evening. First-of-its-kind Initiative To Honour Outstanding Players Of The Glass Industry At around 6:30 pm, anchor for the evening, Ushma Tyagi, welcomed the invitees with a speech. Following the Hindu tradition of invocation to light, our honourable jury members and Mr. Lakhan Singh, Editor and Publisher, Glass Bulletin, lit the ceremonial lamp marking the beginning of the glorious evening. Soon after, with Ganesh Vandana to seek the almighty’s blessings, the award ceremony kicked off. Ms. Tyagi was joined onstage by industry veteran Mr. Ali Asgar who played co-host for the evening. Mr. Ali Asgar gave a brief but enlightening presentation on the history of glass. Thereafter, Mr. Rishi Gupta, MD of Kolf International, our platinum sponsor for the evening, gave an insightful presentation about his company & products. As the evening progressed, Mr. Thomas Schlitt Managing Director of Messe Düsseldorf India took the stage for a short speech. Thereafter, with the introduction of the honourable jury members, the award distribution ensued. The Jury for Glass Bulletin Awards 2016 comprised Indian Glass industry’s ‘Who’s Who’:

  • Mr. N. G. Rau (National Head Sales & Mktg.) Gujarat Guardian Ltd.
  • Mr. Vivek Dubey (Director Marketing) Gold Plus Glass Industry Ltd.
  • Mr. K A S Menon (Senior Vice- President, Sales and Marketing) HNG Float Glass Ltd.
  • Mr. Gurmeet Singh (Managing Director) Gurind India Private Ltd.
  • Mr. Subhash Jajoo (Managing Director) Jajoo Architectural Glass (P) Ltd.
  • Mr. Balaji Konidala (Managing Director) Balaji Building Technologies Pvt. Ltd.

A total of 25 awards were presented under the 11 categories (3 Non- Jury awards, 7 Zonal awards and 1 National award). The participants were categorised into three zones based on their locations: South, West & North/ East. Having championed over others in their respective zones, we decided to upgrade some of their statuses to National Awardees as well. Keeping up with popular trend, stage performances kept the audience on their feet in between the award distribution ceremony. The night was far from over. At around 9 pm, a popular Sufi band took stage and put up an enchanting performance. Guests were then shown in to the dining area where dinner and cocktails were served. Contrary to our expectations of having around 400-450 guests, almost 650 invitees surprised and honoured us with their glorious presence to make the night even more eventful and memorable. After dinner, we at Glass Bulletin paid our guests a small token of thanks in the form of a souvenir to remember us by at the onset of this journey of ours. The ceremony was wrapped up by a Vote of Thanks by Mr. Lakhan Singh. He expressed his gratitude to the esteemed sponsors without whose whole-hearted and unending support, this event would have been nowhere. After almost a decade of serving the industry, we have taken upon us this new journey to recognise and acknowledge the outstanding contributions to our industry and this business. With this novel initiative to bring together all stakeholders under one roof once a year to celebrate the achievements of Glass industry, we believe you would continue to show your support to us. Thank you!
