Guests From India And Abroad Grace Fun-Filled Evening In Mumbai

The 3rd Glass Bulletin Awards (GBA) 2018, GB’s novel initiative to present to the industry a platform that appreciates talent and encourages discourse, was held with much fanfare in Mumbai on September 7.

The award show was organized by Glass Bulletin alongside glasspro INDIA 2018 exhibition at the Grande Hall, BCEC, Goregoan, Mumbai. The event brought together patrons of the Indian glass industry under a roof for a funfilled evening. It was attended by over 850 guests from India and abroad. Glass Bulletin (GB), India’s premier journal for the global glass industry, embarked on this journey in 2016 realizing the need and potential of an award ceremony to recognize talent in the Indian glass industry. And the first Glass Bulletin Awards was organized that year. Amid cautious reaction by the industry, GB put forward an event India was missing for so long. And three years since then, the glass industry has come to place its faith in GB to present a just and transparent platform for recognition of talent. GBA 2018 garnered more significance as it was held alongside glasspro INDIA 2018. glasspro was the result of Glass Bulletin and Messe Dusseldorf India joining hands for a world-class exhibition. glasspro India will be an annual event of international standards featuring top players of the global flat glas s processing industry. An international event with an Indian style, glasspro India 2018 will take along all players of the industry as it scripts a tremendous success. The evening began with the anchor welcoming the guests at around 6:30 pm, followed by the singing of the national anthem, the lamp lighting ceremony by Mr. Thomas Schlitt (ManagingDirector, Messe Dusseldorf), Mr. Lakhan Singh (Editor, Glass Bulletin), Mr. L.N. Jindal (Chief Editor, Glass Bulletin), Mr. Joe (Jinglass), and the Ganesh Vandana. The GBA jury, comprising Mr. Vivek Dubey (Director-Marketing, Gold Plus Glass Industry Ltd), Mr. Balaji Konidala (MD, Balaji Building Technologies Pvt Ltd) Mr. Subhash Jajoo (MD, Jajoo Architechtural Glass Pvt Ltd), Mr. Sudhir Arora (MD, Techno Trade Links), Mr. Deepak Gahlowt (Director, Xebec), Mr. SS Kang (MD, J.K. International), Mr. Gurmeet Singh (MD, Gurind India Pvt Ltd) and Mr. Srinivas Sapher (VP, Sales & Marketing of SISECAM Flat Glass India), was then felicitated by Mr Lakhan Singh who conveyed his gratitude to the jury members for their contribution. Mr. Sudhir Arora then took the stage to explain to the guests and participants the procedure followed by the jury in selecting the award winners. Mr. Schlitt and Ms. Birgit Horn (Director, glasstec) took the stage to address the audience before the award distribution began. Messe Düsseldorf, being the Diamond Sponsor of the event, was given the spot to address the guests. The first award of the night was the Lifetime Achievement Award which was bestowed upon Mr. N.G. Rau, ex-National Head Sales & Marketing, Gujarat Guardian Ltd. The audience was informed about the life and achievements of Mr. Rau through a brief presentation. This was followed by the national awards, which included new categories introduced this year. The Green Initiative Award to honor the energy-saving initiatives taken by glass processors went to Mr. Anup Nanda of Nanda Glass Company. Going Green is vital for our environment. And hence, with this award GB aimed at encouraging those that pledged their resources to save the environment for a better tomorrow. The Indigenous Machine Developer Award, also a new category, to recognize the efforts of those who have worked tirelessly to make top-notch glass processing machines in India was won by Mr. Punit H Bhut of Pearl CNC. The Jury’s Choice Award, another new addition this year, to highlight the hidden talents or emerging companies that have been working tirelessly for the benefit of the industr y was awarded to Mr. Harish Dewani. Mr. Dewani is one of the only two artists around the world who crafts realistic images over glass and mirror surfaces to create portraits and landscapes. He has been recognized for his work at international glass events and magazines. A brief break from the proceedings of the night was brought about a dance troupe who performance kept the audience on their toes. This was followed by felicitation of some faces of the Indian glass industry. Associations that work tirelessly for the industry and facilitated its growth were called on stage and honored. Red Carpet Tours was felicitated for organizing group tours for the stakeholders of the industry to international exhibitions and events, providing much needed exposure and help in its development. Mr. Narayan Kabra accepted a certificate of appreciation on behalf of the Red Carpet team. Thereafter, the rest of the awards were given out. The Glass Bulletin Team that had worked tirelessly for the event were introduced to the audience, following which Glass Bulletin Editor Mr. Lakhan Singh took the stage to give the “vote of thanks”. Mr Singh took the opportunity to give the audience a glimpse of next year’s Glass Bulletin Awards and glasspro exhibition. Mr Singh thanked the VVIP dignitaries and guests, sponsors, participants and award winners, team Grey (event partner), associations working for the industry and invited everybody to Glass Bulletin Awards 2019 and glasspro INDIA 2019. With this, as the event wrapped up, the guests headed for dinner and signed the day off on a high note.
