Extends Its Competence Advantage With Sunglass’ Expertise In Hot Bending
Sedak (Gersthofen, Bayern) bought a stake in glass specialist Sunglass Industry S.R.L. (Villafranca, northern Italy). With this, Sedak, a market leader in large-format glass, further extends its competence advantage.
With its expertise in hot bending, Italian company Sunglass Industry S.R.L., founded in 1984, is regarded as one of the market leaders for curved architectural glass. Its glass has been used in the construction of outstanding, unique, modern architecture such as the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg and the building of the Louis Vuitton Foundation in Paris. Premium manufacturer sedak is the world market leader for largeformat glass up to 3.51 metres x 20 metres and a specialist for so-called “cold bending”. Announcing the signing of the contract on October 8 at the sedak headquarters, Managing Director Bernhard Veh said, “These fields of expertise complement each other excellently. We have thereby rounded off our product portfolio perfectly,
enabling us to extend our top position as a full-service supplier.” Sunglass also stands to profit from the deal as the company will now have access to the preliminary production stages for oversize glass panes in sedak quality.
