Vesuvius is a world leading producer of Fused Silica Glass Tempering rolls used in the production of flat and curved safety glass. In 2008 Vesuvius pioneered the all mechanical end cap, using no glue or resins to connect the Ceramic to the endcaps. This product, known as Smartly Driven™ endcaps was designed to withstand the high temperatures needed to produce tempered, low-e glass. The glue was always the weakest point and would cause significant downtime for machinery operators. Smartly Driven™ technology has brought reliability and consistent performance to the process of thousands of satisfied customers. Vesuvius has always invested in technology that enhances the value of its customers’ operations. The latest innovation is called Smartly Driven™ Plus Rolls. The new design of Glass Tempering roll, brings greater accuracy, tighter tolerances, is much stronger and somewhat lighter than the existing designs. We have tested the product in a number of locations, where the focus is on producing glass of the highest quality, and Smartly Driven™ Plus rolls delivered tangible benefits to the users. The product was officially launched at the Glasstec show in Germany, and when we showed videos of the rigorous testing we had done, the benefits were clear and obvious for people to see.
