Some small steps, some giant leaps — the 15 years of Glass Bulletin’s continued service to the glass industry has been a journey of several highs and lows, achievements and lessons learnt but never one of stagnancy. It has been a journey of growth and coming of age.
Glass Bulletin had set out on this journey of serving the industry in 2015, when in the month of September its first edition was published. It was a moment of glory. It began with a commitment to establish itself as a magazine of international standards that brought news of developments in glass to readers. Glass Bulletin came out with an all-colour edition in the following year itself. It was GB’s fifth edition that was published in 2006. At a time when magazines dedicated to glass in India were still in black-and-white, Glass Bulletin made a statement with its allcolour premium quality paper edition. The magazine also launched its website the same year, foraying into the digital medium and bringing to its readers and contributors the ease of accessing news and developments related to the industry on the digital space besides the print edition. It was a first-of-its-kind initiative, one that was followed by many more in the years to come. The magazine began publishing news of global developments in the glass industry from 2007. Bringing global developments to Indian readers and companies contributed to the much-needed exposure of the glass industry in India, and in turn, helped fuel its growth. GB introduced the ‘Glass terminology’ column to help its readers better understand technical terminology of the global glass industry. It turned out to be a very popular section of the publication. In 2009, GB set up its first booth in an international exhibition, its first footprint beyond the boundaries of the country, its first step in becoming a truly world class magazine for the glass industry.
Since then, Glass Bulletin has participated in more or less every important international exhibition as media partners like in China Glass (Beijing, Shanghai), Gulf Glass (Dubai), Glasstec Asia (Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia), glasstec Germany, Sri Lanka Glass, Nepal Build etc. Besides, Glass Bulletin is a media partner in every important glass event in India at present. It has successfully established itself among the top five magazines for the glass industry in the world. And all of that came as GB reinvented itself and adapted to the fast-paced changes of the glass industry in India. As the industry saw enviable growth in the country, GB took long strides to keep up. And it successfully did so. GB matched the speed at which the industry grew in India all the while learning and adapting and growing in its own right. Glass Bulletin began digital marketing from 2012, matching steps with India as it went digital and in 2016, it launched the Glass Bulletin Awards – a first-of-its-kind initiative to recognize and celebrate the talents of the glass professionals towards their outstanding contribution in the field of glass manufacturing, processing technology, product enhancement, entrepreneurship and business leadership. Glass Bulletin Awards went on to be phenomenal success, a game-changer and a trend-setter. The event filled a void. The glass industry in India did not have a dedicated platform for recognition and celebration of talent. GBA turned out to be a platform free from bias that the industry placed its trust in. It brought the industry together under one roof for an evening encouraging interaction and celebration of talent and hard work. The event stepped into its fourth consecutive year in 2019. In 2017, Glass Bulletin launched the Glass Bulletin app for digital content, taking news about glass to the mobile phones of readers, giving them the opportunity of accessing content on the go. The same year, GB entered into a joint venture with Messe Dusseldorf and jointly held glasspro exhibition for the first time in 2018. glasspro turned out to be another phenomenal success in this journey of Glass Bulletin. GB and Messe organized two editions of glasspro together, the latest being this year in Mumbai. Celebrating 15 glorious years in the service of the glass industry, Glass Bulletin launched its latest service brochuresonweb at GBA 2019. As the industry changes, Glass Bulletin will change itself to keep up and has shown that it has what it takes. GB is thankful to the industry and its patrons for what it is and where it stands today. With their continued support, Glass Bulletin will continue to serve the industry.
