Roshnak Marks 10th Year Anniversary as Ritec’s Marketing Partner

November 27, 2020 Latest Updates4

Roshnak Surface Care Systems, based in Raipur, India, recently celebrated their 10th year anniversary as Ritec International’s official Marketing Partner in the region. In that time, they launched Ritec’s ‘non-stick’, easy-clean ClearShield Eco-Glass® in India and have become very successful. Mrs Ujwala Bhagwat, the owner of Roshnak, explains the story:

“Ten years ago, I visited the Ritec International factory in the UK with the intention of understanding their business. I remember being excited by the potential of all these cutting edge and innovative products in the Indian setting which was a booming and developing market, hence Roshnak Surface Care Systems was born. I did not underestimate the work that would go into it though and I felt motivated every day to achieve our vision of all glass – ‘Non-Stick’.

Ten years later, I am as motivated as ever. The Indian glass industry has accepted the ClearShield® trend-shift with open arms. We are happy to be early adopters of this unique glass surface protection technology in India. We have managed to proliferate into different levels of the glass industry in the past decade, from small scale applicators and fabricators, to large scale glass processors and even architects. We offer an on-site glass renovation, protection and maintenance service, saving our clients time and money from having to replace glass. We now have 50+ partners all over the country, encompassing almost 20 states. We have also won industry awards, a sign that ‘we’ve made it’!

Having said all this, I feel this is still just the start and if we have learnt something after treating more than a million square feet of glass with ClearShield®, is that ‘Non-Stick’ Glass Surfaces are here to stay. I thank Stephen, Karen, Prerana, Ka-Shing, Bob & everyone else at Ritec for their continuous support. I also would like to thank our applicators and processor partners in India who work with us in tandem to achieve our vision. Here’s to moving onwards and upwards in the coming decade.”

Roshnak’s Renovation Rescues Bus Windows

Roshnak Surface Care Systems believe that glass is meant to look clean but understand that it can be tough to keep clean. Fortunately, thanks to Roshnak’s many years of renovating and protecting glass surfaces, they knew they had the perfect solution. So when they received a frantic call from a maintenance company responsible for governmental public buses in Gurgaon, Delhi, Roshnak were the right company to speak to.

The maintenance company seemed to be very distressed with severe marks on the glass windows on 40 buses. These marks accumulated over the lockdown period and although the most common methods and different products were tried, none could remove these tough stains.

Roshnak used Ritec’s specialist Renovation products to remove the stubborn staining from the glass in a relatively short time period. This restored the clarity and visibility which helps to promote a more comfortable and safe environment for passengers. Roshnak’s renovation expertise made all the glass look as good as new and reduced the stress of the glass maintenance company.

Ranauk Bhagwat, Roshnak’s Head of Business Development, commented: “Thanks to the Ritec’s renovation products and our training and experience, we have the confidence to restore glass surfaces back to their ‘as-new’ appearance. Our renovation procedure is the perfect alternative to glass replacement which is costly in both terms of time and money. Just imagine having to take buses out of service to replace the glass, and the financial costs involved. Our client was totally relieved that not only did we get rid of the staining they felt was impossible to remove quickly and efficiently, the solution was reasonably priced too”.

Even Covid Cannot Stop Ritec’s Recertification!

Despite the Covid-19 pandemic, Ritec International is delighted to announce it has successfully passed its annual ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015 audit with Alcumus ISOQAR. For the thirteenth consecutive year for ISO 9001 and eighth year for ISO 14001 (Ritec’s initial registrations began in 2008 and 2012 respectively), there was not a single minor non-conformancy reported.

Ian Thomas, ISOQAR Lead Auditor, concluded within his report: “The audit team concludes that the organisation has established and maintained its management system in conformance with the requirements of the standards and demonstrated to the audit team that the management system is effective in its ability to systematically achieve the requirements for products and or services within the scope of its activities and in accordance with its policy and objectives.”

The audit team also concludes that the audit objectives have been fulfilled. Based on the evidence obtained during this audit, the audit team recommends that Certification should be ‘Continued’.

This year’s audit was carried out remotely due to Covid-19 restrictions and initially was considered to present some issues. However, Wayne Saul CQP, MCQI of Concept Quality Management Systems (CQMS) and consultant for Ritec, talked the company through the process and advised on how to present some of the hard copy information where required.

Ritec’s Martin Burkett AIIRSM, responsible for overseeing the audit, said: “The whole process could actually not have been much simpler, and for surveillance audits definitely the way forward. We are immensely proud of again successfully passing, especially now for so many years in a row without any minor non-conformancies recorded. I would like to say a big thank you to all those who played their part.”

New Singapore Hospital Gets the ClearShield® Treatment

The new Outram Community Hospital (OCH) in Singapore is a 19-storey building comprising of 550 beds. Opened in December 2019, the OCH is the first community hospital providing step-down care in southern Singapore where government figures show there is a higher proportion of patients aged 65 years and older.

The Hospital has been designed and furnished to resemble a public estate, so patients can learn how to adapt after they return home. For example, the hospital has facilities that resemble the interiors of buses and trains, for patients to learn to navigate the public transport system using a wheelchair.

Approximately 20,700m2 of glass was factory-applied with ClearShield® by two different façade contractors. ClearShield® – manufactured in the UK by Ritec International – is a unique glass surface treatment that upgrades ordinary glass to ‘non-stick’, easy clean ClearShield Eco-Glass®. There are numerous benefits:

  • Resists staining and discolouration
  • Typically halves the frequency of cleaning, saving time and costs
  • Glass looks cleaner for longer, promoting a more pristine image

Many buildings around the world have award-winning ClearShield® specified primarily to reduce the cost of ongoing maintenance as the glass is easier to clean and keep clean compared to ordinary glass.

ClearShield® has also been awarded Singapore Green Building Council (SGBC) Green Mark certification so helps to promote more sustainable building practices.

Parmis Pte Ltd is Ritec’s Marketing Partner based in Singapore and promotes the benefits of ClearShield® glass protection to many countries in South East Asia. Godfrey Foong, Parmis’s MD, said: “Today, more and more architects and specifiers are becoming increasingly aware of the fact glass should have ClearShield protection specified as it is a real help to reduce maintenance costs. With less dirt sticking to the glass, ClearShield Eco-Glass looks like new for longer compared to ordinary glass. This means occupants can enjoy better light transmission – proven to be beneficial to human health, so important for a hospital – and a long-lasting pristine appearance between cleaning cycles.”

OverflateXperten and ClearShield® Give Outstanding Performance at Historic Norwegian Theatre

Den Nationale Scene (National Theatre) is the largest theatre in Bergen, Norway and is one of the oldest permanent theatres in the country, opening in 1850 as ‘Det Norske Theater’ (The Norwegian Theatre). The theatre closed in 1863 after bankruptcy, re-opened in 1876 in the same building with its current name before moving to a different building in 1909.

Over the years, Den Nationale Scene has undergone major changes, extensions, renovation, restoration and technical modernisation of the stage. More recently, after a year and a half of renovation work on the roofing and façades, the glass was left in a poor state. Despite much time and effort, workers found it impossible to remove the concrete dust, pollution and tree sap that had all firmly bonded to the glass.

Rather than having to replace the glass at massive expense and inconvenience, they discovered OverflateXperten (‘surface specialists’ in Norwegian) who had the perfect, proven solution. They could get the glass looking as good as new in little time and at substantially lower cost.

OverflateXperten is Ritec International’s official Marketing Partner in Norway. Ritec is the developer of the ClearShield Eco-System® for the renovation, ‘non-stick’ protection and maintenance of glass. The System is used to upgrade ordinary glass to superior easy-clean ClearShield Eco-Glass®. OverflateXperten is an experienced applicator of the ClearShield Eco-System® and got to work. They used special products to remove all of the existing bonded staining on the glass before sealing and protecting the surface with ClearShield®. This is an award-winning glass surface treatment that protects glass, resisting future staining. Additionally, the surface is always easier to clean and keep clean compared to ordinary glass. The end result was easy-clean sparkling glass that looked as good as new, and another delighted client.

Dagfinn Eldøy, Operations Manager of Den Nationale Scene who oversaw the work, said: “The windows got very dirty during all the renovation work and were impossible to clean. But with OverflateXperten’s specialist products and techniques, they got the windows completely clean. We can safely recommend OverflateXperten!”

ClearShield® Gives a Clearer View for Tolkienists

The Hobbiton Movie Set was a location used for The Lord of the Rings film trilogy and The Hobbit film trilogy. It is situated almost 90 miles southeast of Auckland in Hinuera, New Zealand. The films are based on novels written by J. R. R. Tolkien and today the Hobbiton Movie Set is a ‘Tolkien tourism’ destination, offering a guided tour of the 5 hectare (12 acres) set.

Being on the international tourist map, Hobbiton Movie Set Tours was conscious of the Trip Advisor comments that criticised the state of the glass windows on their 13 tour coaches. Tourists were unable to see clearly out of the windows, let alone take photos. What was the cause?

In this rural environment, the only reliable source of water is from a borehole. This water contains high levels of minerals and is therefore aggressive to ordinary, unprotected glass when used to wash the coach windows. This eventually caused stubborn staining to the glass, making them difficult to see out of, resulting in the negative reviews. Standard cleaning regimes were unable to remove this heavily bonded staining so an effective long-term solution had to be found; they discovered ClearShield® ‘non-stick’ glass protection.

Peter and Heather Wavish of Specialist Glass Cleaning and Protection (SGC) were contracted to carry out the work. They have many years’ experience using the Ritec ClearShield Eco-System®, particularly on glass in vehicles. The first stage was the specialist renovation of the existing glass, removing all of the staining and ensuring it was in an ‘as-new’ appearance. The next stage was to apply the durable and protective ‘non-stick’, easy-clean ClearShield® treatment to resist future staining and maintain the original clarity. SGC have also implemented a maintenance programme every six months to ensure the ClearShield® protection is performing to its best.

Thanks to Specialist Glass Cleaning and Protection and the ClearShield Eco-System®, negative comments on Trip Advisor about the coach windows have become a thing of the past. The pristine glass windows on all the tour coaches are fit for a Lord!

Problems with limescale on glass? See what Ritec Limescale Remover can do!

Seeing is believing! This glass belonging to a property in Western Cape, South Africa had been suffering from severe limescale attack. The property is located very near the sea, and uses borehole water for its garden irrigation system. The high level of dissolved solids in the borehole water, coupled with the regular winds from the SW and SE which come off the ocean, makes the alkaline attack relentless.

DCPRO (a ClearShield® Applicator specialising in renovating dirty glass and protecting it with ‘non-stick’, easy clean ClearShield® protection) used Ritec Limescale Remover as a trial to clean the glass fast and with minimal fuss. The results as you can see are amazing!

The property’s owner was delighted with the demonstration and specified award-winning Ritec ClearShield Eco-System® treatment for the sea-facing windows, balustrade, a skylight and shower glass. In all, 98m² of glass was treated, upgrading the existing glass to ‘non-stick’ ClearShield Eco-Glass®. This higher performance glass will resist future limescale attack and other forms of staining, and will look pristine for longer with lower maintenance requirements.

As the happy property owner pleasingly discovered, you can get brand new-looking glass without having to pay for brand new glass!

If you have a limescale problem in or around your home, contact Roshnak, the licensed distributor for Ritec Limescale Remover in India. Available as a handy trigger spray bottle, it is effective on glass, ceramics, stainless steel, chrome, enamel, plastic and most other hard surfaces (always test on a discrete area first; do not use on marble, stone, granite or other surfaces that are not acid-resistant).
