Asahi India Glass Limited (AIS) introduces a new Fire-resistant glass (FRG) range. AIS has partnered with AGC Glass Europe for importing and selling fire-rated glasses – Pyrobel and Pyrobel-T in Indian and SAARC market. These firerated glasses are specially engineered to withstand extreme levels of heat, restrict heat transfer and prevent passage of smoke and flames in case of a fire. It was launched at The Royal Plaza Hotel, New Delhi, on October 18, 2016.
“In case of a fire, the fire-resistant glass range from AIS will be the perfect solution as it will reduce spreading of fire and heat thereby providing enough time to implement evacuation plans” said Mr. Vikram Khanna, COO (Consumer Glass), COO (Architectural Institutional Business), CMO & CIO (Asahi India Glass Limited). Fire-resistant glass helps in creating a barrier between the burning and safe side giving enough time for people to evacuate. These glasses come with different time rating which indicate the ability of glass to withstand fire till the defined time. It also helps in the following aspects in designing evacuation plans:-
- Creating zones with the help of FRG which can be used for evacuation
- Effective building design and construction
- Determining optimum fire prevention and safety measures
- Design, installation and maintenance of fire-detection systems
FRG is well-suited for hospitals, schools, airports, hotels, public buildings, shopping malls, theatres, ships, and railways as well as for industrial purposes like machines, crane cabins, etc. FRG finds application as doors and windows, partitions, roofs, smoke screens, etc.
