New LSR Technology Boosts Throughput, Improves Edge Quality, And Cuts Energy Use In Laminated Safety Glass (LSG) Processing.
A breakthrough in LSG cutting, LSR laser technology drastically increases speed, precision, and efficiency— without compromising edge quality.
The thicker the film, the more time is saved
Equipped with the LSR laser, the ProLam LSR cutting system achieves at least 20 percent more throughput compared to conventional methods. “The thicker the film and therefore the overall composite, the more time is saved,” explains HEGLA Managing Director Bernhard Hötger. “We can cut a ten-layer film in ten seconds and maintain the maximum quality of the composite edge, thanks to the gentle use of the laser,” he adds.
The laser diode heater is placed above the glass, protecting the material from exposure to dust, lucite, oil, and glass splinters. Unlike infrared radiators, whose performance degrades over time due to soiling, laser diodes maintain consistent performance for a long duration. The localized heat input has another benefit: the glass only becomes warm to the touch, allowing for subsequent cuts without the need for cooling time.
When combined with another existing or new cutting system, overall output can be significantly increased. “The combination of smart cutting distribution, glassfriendly laser technology and just one operator achieves a throughput that meets the highest demands,” says Hötger.
In addition to performance improvements, LSR technology also reduces energy consumption. The laser diode is only activated briefly, and depending on the cutting length, it is switched on either partially or fully. Compared to conventional heating methods, this results in a more efficient and environmentally friendly process.Email: [email protected]
