Reliance Power’s ambitious project marks a significant step toward boosting renewable energy infrastructure in India. The 930 MW solar power plant, coupled with a massive 1860 MWh battery storage capacity, will be located in Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh, and aims to set a benchmark as Asia’s largest integrated solar and battery facility.
Asia’s Largest Solar And Battery Project
Reliance NU Suntech Pvt Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Reliance Power, has won a project comprising a 930 MW solar power plant and 1860 MWh battery storage capacity. The facility will be located in Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh, and is poised to become the largest solar and battery energy storage project at a single location in Asia, according to the company.
Employment Opportunities
The project is expected to generate significant employment opportunities, creating around 1,000 direct jobs and providing work to approximately 5,000 people during the construction phase. This will contribute to the socio-economic development of the area.
Plans For Solar Manufacturing Facility
In addition to the solar power project, Reliance Power plans to invest Rs 6,500 crore in building an integrated solar manufacturing facility in Andhra Pradesh. The company is currently scouting for 1,500 acres of land to set up the factory. This facility aims to support the company’s renewable energy initiatives and strengthen its foothold in solar manufacturing.
Sources from the Andhra Pradesh government revealed that Anil Ambani recently visited Visakhapatnam to finalize a land parcel near the Rambili industrial area in Anakapalli district. While a site in southern Andhra Pradesh was inspected last month, it was ultimately not selected. Discussions for the new site are in advanced stages.
